Our annual donation to charities in 2022 has enabled the development of a new educational offer for daycare children – a specially made shopping shop teaches aspects of sustainability.
As the first “test subjects”, children of the daycare centre “Spatzennest” in Sillenstede could now play with the new shop equipped with special goods. It literally “playfully” conveys an awareness of sustainable shopping to the children. For example, the children can learn which fruits are grown in tropical regions or which are currently ripe in Germany. In addition, they can handle goods on a 4-metre-long, project-owned world map, with a toy container ship, crane, truck and by plane. Textiles and household goods are also themed in the play shop. The concept is to illustrate production and supply chains of various everyday goods and to visualise their energy and CO2 balances.
In addition to the small shop with everyday goods, there is an educational handout and many educational materials. The Regional Environmental Centre Schortens (RUZ), which was able to realise this educational offer with the donation of PKV and pedagogical feedback from the “Spatzennest”, will lend this shop to kindergartens throughout Friesland in the future as part of the EnergiesparKids project.
